RE: PBP disappointment - wdt - 09-28-2020 >“manjaro” directory has a sub directory named “x86_64” >“initramfs-86_64.img”, >“bootx64.efi”. Err, this is an image for x86, intel and AMD,, NOT arm Such a thing would never boot, never You are looking for aarch64 OR arm64 OR armhf (arm hard float, 32bit) Do try to boot emmc again, when you come to login screen (where you can't login because messed up) Then press and hold control-alt,,tap F3.. login there,, then startplasma-x11 Then change display manager, remove sddm, install lightdm The reason that it always goes to emmc, the SD card is NOT bootable, not in a million years (well, it would boot on a x86 laptop, the pbp is not one of those, it is an arm laptop, you knew that, right?) So, the ONLY bootable media is on the emmc, so it's doing EXACTLY what it should https://osdn.net/projects/manjaro-arm/storage/pbpro/kde-plasma/20.08/ Notice "arm" in the name,, OR https://builds.armdevelopers.com/pinebook-pro/releases/dev/ (this is fedora),, OR https://www.armbian.com/pinebook-pro/ RE: PBP disappointment - Paulie420 - 09-28-2020 (09-28-2020, 01:34 PM)wdt Wrote: >“manjaro” directory has a sub directory named “x86_64” Good job spotting that and pointing it out. See, fenyo - I'm not telling you what to do but unless it was damaged when you opened the laptop I wouldn't give up on the eMMC just yet. It does run faster than SDcard; I highly suggest just getting the proper ARM Manjaro back on eMMC... even if you never use it; just have a good copy of a linux build so that its THERE - and use the SDcard for whatever OS you want to run... If it were ME, I'd get the OS I want to RUN on the eMMC card - but at the very least I'm glad the x86 error was spotted. At the minimum, that part wasn't the fault of PBP - we have to feed it the correct food and instructions not to get sick. This thing WILL function properly; we just gotta get you in line. (I'm saying that in the nicest way... no disrespect.) RE: PBP disappointment - wdt - 09-28-2020 Err @Paulie420 , did you read the thread? The problem is at login screen, IIUR, the entry boxes deformed or something And not clear if he knows user:password And, and, at end of post appropriate links, of course there are more So you, too, do not know the value of vt's (virtual terminal) Perhaps you should read upthread and increase your knowledge. And, BTW, I don't mind reading a "wall of text" if there are lots of points in it, maybe you could exercise a little restraint? |
