It was worth a try but if reassembling hasn't resolved the problem then it may be the cable, lcd, board etc. Perhaps the support team will be able to narrow it down.

My pinephone arrived today and I have the same kind of problem.
Was there any update yet for your phone?

Looks like LCD panel turns bad, Please file support ticket at http://support.pine64.org and file RMA process.
