This is exactly what is described by a few people as not being the proper type of supply to use... you "Smart" power adapter doesn't work with the pine because the pines power isn't designed like a cell phones it's not "Smart" and the supply only sends out the min 500ma... This has been mentioned in the forums and on the comments on the kickstarter if I remember correctly...
