Ah drats! Please update us on how you go anyway... fingers crossed it is a drop in replacement!
It looks like there might be the same number of red and black wires, and the extra one will most likely be the temperature sensor, and it doesn't matter what colour that one is. Hopefully it has the same connector, and that that was the reason they went with that not-so-good mainboard connector!
