Instructions on how to flash the internal eMMC on the Pinebook can be found here. But since many sources point online here, I feel compelled to quickly write up the missing kind-of detailed instructions: In short, you can flash the eMMC on the Pinebook either via: 1) FEL (outline in link above); 2) booting from SD and flashing to eMMC (some OS images have their own installers while on other OS' you have dd the eMMC manually); 3) using a special SD card image (such as this one). As for 3), its worth mentioning that it can be easily modified to flash any OS image to eMMC by i) flashing the image above to a SD card ii) mounting the rootfs partition of the SD card on your computer (I am assuming you're on *nix) iii) deleting 'pinebook.img' from the partition iv) copying over whatever OS image you want on your Pinebook's eMMC v) renaming the OS image you copied over 'pinebook.img' vi) and lastly putting it into your Pinebook, powering it on and following onscreen instructions (NB disregard that it says 'flashing Ubuntu Mate' -> its actually flashing whatever OS image you placed in the SD rootfs). I trust this helps. RE: KDE Neon Pinebook remix edition RC image - mus - 08-24-2018 HI What is the pasword to login in KDE Thanks Mus RE: KDE Neon Pinebook remix edition RC image - jgullickson - 08-24-2018 What's the password for this image (it went to screensaver and I can't unlock it ![]() RE: KDE Neon Pinebook remix edition RC image - Luke - 08-24-2018 I think you're meant to run the installer on desktop before the screensaver kicks in. LOL. RE: KDE Neon Pinebook remix edition RC image - jgullickson - 08-24-2018 (08-24-2018, 08:46 AM)Luke Wrote: I think you're meant to run the installer on desktop before the screensaver kicks in. LOL. Rebooted and tried that, but now there was an error at the end of the installation related to resizing partitions, so I want to wipe the internal storage and can't because I don't have the password. :p RE: KDE Neon Pinebook remix edition RC image - Luke - 08-24-2018 (08-24-2018, 08:49 AM)jgullickson Wrote:(08-24-2018, 08:46 AM)Luke Wrote: I think you're meant to run the installer on desktop before the screensaver kicks in. LOL. The SD doesn't install to internal eMMC, it installs to the SD you're running from. LOL. Is there a way to change that, or a script you can run to install it to the eMMC like other boot images? Is this something that is possible to fix? |
