RE: U-boot upgrading on Pine64 checked out from public tech library - xalius - 03-12-2017 Yes, once you reach the point where you have u-boot up and running you can boot your OS from almost anything you want, or rather u-boot can reach, e.g. over the network or a USB attached HDD... that is why the main idea of having the small SPI Flash is to store u-boot on it so you can boot from different media that don't need to include the 'boot' firmware, almost like on PC's with traditional "BIOS" RE: U-boot upgrading on Pine64 checked out from public tech library - kenneth558 - 03-12-2017 (03-12-2017, 01:05 PM)xalius Wrote: Yes, once you reach the point where you have u-boot up and running you can boot your OS from almost anything you want, or rather u-boot can reach, e.g. over the network or a USB attached HDD... that is why the main idea of having the small SPI Flash is to store u-boot on it so you can boot from different media that don't need to include the 'boot' firmware, almost like on PC's with traditional "BIOS"This is exciting to have the boot sequence custom-clarified for me. I'm sure I'll need more info for troubleshooting when I get around to changing over to my next bootup upgrade. Now back to real life: I am in the midst of fighting with getting OpenHAB to acquire a DHCP address from my laptop. Other images get address just fine. What is different about OpenHAB's image? (Rhetorical question, nothing officially being asked...) RE: U-boot upgrading on Pine64 checked out from public tech library - xalius - 03-12-2017 I haven't really used OpenHAB but that is something that is configured in the network setup of the underlying Linux distro? On what are your running OpenHAB? What saved me was that I had an extra u-SD card so I can get OpenHABian, as they call it, working. It seems those folks make assumptions about the user's setup that they don't explain thoroughly...
