This is great news about a new riscv board.
I ordered a Sifive Unmatched board and waited for 4 months, it never arrived, and eventually news leaked out that it never would.
I hope its more than a single core.
I'm most interested in using the full architecture, that is to say machine supervisor and user modes, with the traps available to each mode.
To be able to run an RTOS in one core and Linux in several others, with a machine mode protection hypervisor.
And physical memory protect (PMP) is a must have.
I have 4 riscv boards already including one fpga version, and each one has been far too limited in available resources.
Please don't stint on ram, I'm sure everybody expects it to run linux.
So the devil is in the detail, I look forward to finding exactly what you mean by its a riscv chip similar to the quartz.

90% of users do not need super hardware with very powerful characteristics, but ordinary workhorses with a reasonable price. An example of how quickly copies with D1 (Mango LicheeRv etc) are sold out with very modest parameters.

yes, but I want a desktop on this platform, StarFive RISC-V brought this moment even closer.

DE is already there. I use two variants of Icewm and XFCE in Armbian and Altlinux. In my opinion, Icewm works quite well (with the right settings). While this is not suitable for media functions, but as a simple workhorse, it copes quite well (8 GB of RAM helps).
By the way, Rick is actively working on the implementation of different DE for RISC-V. You can connect to the Discord channel about RISC-V, there are actively discussing different options and their refinement.

After having read the June Update Blog post I am kind of excited that Pine64 is releasing a RISC-V board.
I was planning on buying the StarFive/VisionFive board for tinkering https://shop.allnetchina.cn/collections/starfive/products/starfive-visionfive-ai-single-board-computer as it is relatively cheap with $199 with PSU, Heatsink, Fan, Case, SD-Card loaded with Fedora.
And they have a lot of other ports to try-out https://forum.rvspace.org/t/collection-for-all-os-updates/420 as I am more familiar with Debian than Fedora.
Plus loads of Documentation is available as well https://rvspace.org/.
Makes me wonder how the Pine64 board will compare to the VisionFive board feature and performance wise.
