Passive cooling - jl_678 - 07-27-2017 Hi, I have read in some posts here that the Rock64 can benefit from some passive cooling such as heatsinks. First, I assume that the Rock64 does not come with them. Correct? Second, can someone suggest an appropriate heatsink to purchase? I have pre-ordered a Rock64 and would like to be prepared for its arrival. Thank you, JL RE: Passive cooling - Luke - 07-27-2017 (07-27-2017, 06:44 AM)jl_678 Wrote: Hi, I guess it will largely depend on what you want to do with it. I have mostly been playing with android for the time being using a regular large PI heatsink (see attachment) and had no issues what-so-ever. I know however that fire219, Xalius and others have tested pushing the SOC past the base-specs (see ayufans git for more info). For this sort of application you will need something beefier - fire219 even had a fan on his. So, if you want to do media in android or run OMV then a regular Pi heatsink ought to do (perhaps even no heatsink at all); other than that, you may just want something a bit bigger and better. ![]() RE: Passive cooling - Lexstar - 07-27-2017 I have some spare 14x14mm heatsinks, do you think they will fit?
