what's the status on kernel developement/support for the latest 5.x kernel?
I have a rock64 (version 1?) and I'm wondering if there are still plans to support it, or if the board is more/less being "given up on" at this point...

Working well  with arch linux arm. I'm using them headless as network appliances. I don't know if there are video issues. The network stack and USB3 performance is RADICALLY IMPROVED, compared to earlier kernels.

[root@honeypot3 ~]# cat /proc/version
Linux version 5.3.6-1-ARCH (builduser@leming) (gcc version 8.3.0 (GCC)) #1 SMP Sat Oct 12 17:02:44 UTC 2019
thanks for the info, however, I'm wondering when the mainline kernel will more generally be supported by other distros, as I prefer to go with a Debian-based system. Is this an issue where rockchip hasn't progressed in releasing an updated kernel???

No idea about that.
+1 bump for Debian based distro support.
Confirm had good success with arch earlier.
