If anyone is looking for a project, the RTL-SDR is pretty fun with the pine (2gb ram helps).
I created a
plane tracker map, that allows to see the location, altitude and speed of planes in the region.
(update: fixed bug on my website that made two minus "--" to a long line)
That's neat. I also got an rtl-sdr dongle a couple of months ago and have enjoyed playing with it. I haven't gotten into anything like aircraft tracking yet, but mostly just listen to FM radio and play with gnuradio and gqrx a bit. The waterfall display looks really nice on the 7" Pine LCD screen.
I can imagine that the lcd is a nice addition to use the pine outdoors
Currently, I receive the visuals over vnc/ssh (with pc/phone) and the audio directly from the audio jack.
The airplane tracking is pretty easy to do.

I thinks a lot of people interest your project. Please provide step-by-step setup procedure and in return I will ship you an 7" Touch screen LCD panel :-)
Hi Tllim, this sounds great. I'll have a look at it on the weekend.
I created a simple instruction how I installed the ADS-B tracker (see updated link in first post).
Other interesting applications that I was able to install are a passive IMSI catcher (to see mobile phones that connect to nearby towers), the spectrum analyzer
gqrx and signal recording with the Universal Radio Hacker (for example from a garage door opener). The analysis of radio frequencies is not only useful for offensive security but also to control incompatible devices in a smart home.
