Will there be any differences between this adapter board version and the future non-adapter version? I'm moving over a sizable z-wave network currently on a Aeotec Z-stick and I would rather wait four months and get the updated version than risk having to deal with differences moving forward. Moving a z-wave network from one master to another is time consuming (PITA).
Also, would the EU and US versions need different openHAB snapshots or some modifications after installing a snapshot?
For what its worth, I've made my peace with this issue. I like the case, minus the difficulty to take the top back off, and I think I'm a lot happier with my Z-Stick than I would be the Z-Wave module.
Further, I have decided to go with Home Assistant instead of OpenHAB.
Here's my end result:

And if anyone wants to give Home Assistant a go with a Z-Wave stick, here's a guide I wrote up:

Really happy with the Pine's performance, at least so far.
I also posted this in the only other Z-Wave discussion thread I could find, but I (finally) received the AU version of the Z-Wave module and ABS case and it looks like they've sorted out the issue with it not fitting -

Hopefully have OpenHAB up and running soon!
Figured i'd show my solution to the Z-Wave module not fitting in the Pine64 case. Of course as usual for me I did not think to take any pictures till it was done, but it was pretty straight forward so not too hard to figure out what I did.
First was the Pine64 case top, I cut out a couple ribs to see how much extra clearance that gave.
Then the tricky part, first I desoldered the pins from the Z-Wave module.
Then on the the adapter I removed the plastic from those pins and straightened the pins out.
Then put the Z-Wave module down over those pins, soldered it together, them cut off the excess pin length

So it just barely fits, but it works.
It was definitely not easy to desolder and solder something that small for me, as I do not have much experience soldering. But it worked and I'm happy it fits in the case now.
