As to make this tablet truly sustainable....

Irrespective of any promises made, history gives us a pretty reliable answer. The answer is no. The Pine Tab 1 got no support past the first production run. I have a Pine Tab 1 that needs a new motherboard, otherwise is fine.

My expectation is that there is some loose promise, maybe a few more production runs, then a PineTab 3 gets announced and all support for PineTab 2 gets dropped. If you look inside the tablet there is zero upgrade path - they could have added support for a CM4 compute module (or one of their own modules) for example, but decided not to.

It is demotivating to invest time into a platform that becomes immediately obsolete.
Who knows for sure, there are some spare parts in the store for devices; it takes time & money to re-work tooling and design new products.

With the PT2 & PT-V being just developer units, I would think parts would be forthcoming, unless we get another Covid-type shutdown or problems relating to the American, Taiwan & China issue.
Pine Store will carry PineTab-2 and Pinetab-V spare components.

hopefully this doesn't come across as pushy, but is there an expected timeline for when the Pine store will carry parts for the new tablets? i need to get my hands on a new pt2 mainboard, mine got fried during a storm.

Just wondering if the PineTab-V motherboard be interchangeable with the PineTab2 ? might be the only way to get hold of a PineTab-V Smile ie replace the mb in a PT2
