We really do need a 'disable onscreen keyboard' switch.
It could be located in the Phosh banner at the top with the other switches.
I have noted that Postmarket os KDE Plasma has a disable keyboard widget.
Just a suggestion that 10's of thousands would agree with I suppose?
I actually had a case where I needed such a widget - I entered point A and point B in maps and then the keyboard wouldn't go away, taking up about 40% of the screen. If I had a hammer...
You can add a shortcut to toggle the keyboard display. Not quite as good as having it integrated, but maybe enough to reduce the pain.

I'm constantly using the keyboard icon to shut it off with nearly each time I hit the enter button while using a bluetooth folding mini keyboard where the problem mainly exists. When I dock my device using mouse and keyboard there is no issue.

Actually most of the time the keyboard icon is there, bottom right, and since the last update (which I managed to run yesterday, on Manjaro Phosh), it started working. Helped me this morning already.
