Android from about vers. 5.0 on does not allow to write to the external SD card for all applications. Is it possible to write to external SD card for instance with OpenOffice with the PinePhone (a reason to buy a PinePhone)?
Of course you can. You can write and run an entire operating system from the SD card if you want.
Happy to know, thanks, Merc
.
The PinePhone is as far as I know the most affordable Linux Phone which has full control over the external SD card (read and write)
. Other affordable Linux Phones almost only allow reading from the external SD card. Pine64 can advertise with that. The last Android phones which could do this job was as far as I know for instance the Galaxy S5 with Android KitKat 4.4. This was the last Android device I was happy with. Now I will update to the revolutionary PinePhone, which brings this beloved feature back.
You have full access on any phone you can install PmOS on too - check their device list to see what works and what doesn't on different devices. It's a software issue not a hardware issue.
