Full Version: Cannot set Firefox or Calendar as default applications

In the "settings -> default applications" menu, I can't choose "firefox" in the "web" dropdown (in fact, I can't choose anything), and so links from other applications open with the text editor. similarly, "text editor" is selected as "calendar", and it's the only option, despite having Calendar installed.

Is this a known issue? If not, where should I report it? And lastly: can these settings be changed from the command line?
You can set Firefox as default browser via Firefox > Preferences. There's a button to set Firefox as your default browser.

For calendar, I don't know.

Thanks, that worked for Firefox and in fact the app is now marked as the default web browser (see screenshot).

However, it is still weird that nothing appeared originally. Also, I have no solution for the calendar yet - I wonder if this can be changed from command line somehow?

Have you installed a calendar program? gnome-calendar is an option.

Not trying to hijack the thread or something,
but for me some settings in Firefox are never being saved (e.g. added the history button to the toolbar, after restarting Firefox it was no longer there), maybe it is related?

Yes, gnome-calendar is installed by default.
