Hi, im going to buy the new posmarket os edition of the pinephone and i want to know about the actual state of anbox running applications like whatsapp (i really dont want to use it, but for work groups and study groups i need to do it.) or other social media android apps.
For what i know, it works with some caviats, and with very poor performance.

Not really ontopic regarding anbox...but couldn't you just use the web version of the app?

I think this doesn't work. You can only use the web version when you've another active phone + sim-card with WhatsApp active.
This is also a hurdle for me (too many people around me using WhatsApp...). What are solutions in the meantime? I've read that there are bridges to matrix that you can host yourself, but doesn't that also require another phone? *clueless*

Web version is really not meant to be used on phones. Yes you need another phone(for example android) where you have whatsapp, but you can remove sim card from that phone and it still works as long as you have internet connection on it.
Im not sure about pmOS but i tried running whatsapp on anbox on mobian, it starts but it gave some error and i could not use it.
Any news on this? Due to work I also need whatsapp unfortunately... I cannot get anbox to work
