Sure, why not? Earthing is usually provided by the power connection and a wooden table does not conduct electricity. Maybe make sure to discharge static current on yourself before touching it.

Anti-static bags are conductive! Don't use that or metal, or anything conductive. A wooden benchtop or desktop is ideal.

Wow, thanks for asking this ollehar! I was about to store this in a drawer inside the bag and had no idea that these are conductive or a fire risk.
