Found this fully working RASPBIAN Image that boots to desktop - speedro86 - 12-15-2016

This link to this image has been tested by me, I can verify HDMI Ethernet, Wifi, and USB after configuring the text file on windows then rebooted to a fully supported A64 Raspbian Image
 https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_YnvHgh2rwjb3VqQTczVDBFSnM/view
this works unexpectedly well.

I just saw you joined the chat (at 4.00am hence no answer). The image you are linking is dated 2016-07-13 so whatever it is, its not new. Also, Raspbian ?

I'm a little confused about what this img is ....

[edit] so upon a closer inspection, it seems is to be a banana pi m64 image. Where did you get this thing?
[edit 2] So yea, it boots. And yea, uses RPI repos and runs 3.10.101 kernel. I will set up a VNC server and take a look at it next.
[edit 3] It boots into the (old) RPI desktop. It also has raspi-config (most settings don't work) and other utilities.
[edit 4] update scripts are in /usr/local/bin --- haven't tried updating.

If anything, this is an interesting finding ...

yeah, I just read about the banana pi 64, it uses same A64, Mali Drivers, but uses onboard flash, so I just wrote the image to a sd card, put in and booted up, I waited to see any ethernet activity, and when that happened, I shut down, and pulled the sd card out to read the decompressed files, and edited the command line text for HDMI, and boom, booted to the desktop with all my USB working, ethernet, HDMI.
I am a newb with this, but I pick up fast so I half way have an idea of what's going on, it wasn't a blind try when I decided to boot it.

works here. this bpi-m64 board is not yet for sale however they claim 1080p/ 4k video on the same mali400 mp2 GPU. it has 8GB/16GB/32GB/64GB eMMC flash & sd card slot. pine64 could hopefully pick up a few tips for the next pine64 dev board. the o/s makes several outright references to pine64 so it seems they have taken a bit of pine64 & longsleep kernel work. i wonder why it has seemingly slowed to a crawl since july, that's about 4 months without bringing a board to market yet.

yeah they use longsleeps work for this for sure. I was amazed it worked so well, there are multiple various builds for the pi64, that Im sure are all based on the pine64 work.

Thanks. i was looking for a simple image to run magic mirror

downloaded this image and it boots to the desktop. and i was able to login via PUTTY with the username/password from their forum

What are my next steps ? Should i follow the guidelines in the rpi forum to expand the SSD / change password / install magic mirror or is there some other work that's needed ?

Never used Linux in my life, but i can follow directions

Have a Pine 64/2GB board
