Quick Android Question - jl_678 - 01-25-2016

I am a Pine64 backer with a primary focus on a Linux home server use case.  However, I am also wondering whether I should get a second Pine64 for an Android use case.  That said, I have a super simple question that occurred to me last night.

Dose Android require a local monitor/screen? In other words, do you have to have a direct connected monitor and mouse to use Android on a Pine?  In Linux, I typically access the system either via remote a CLI through SSH or a remote desktop through VNC.  Does Android have those same concepts and is it easy to setup and run?  Having to have display hardware for a Pine64 Android instance is more than I can manage right now.

Thank you!

Android has an option for screen casting to a capable device (most Smart TVs).
Here you need dedicated mouse and keyboard.

Also, you can install a VNC server on Android. Google for "VNC server" on the play store for examples.

You could take a look at 'airdroid' or other related apps in the play store.

However I do not think they will be as open as remote access to other PC's/linux.

As the Pine64 should have root access (I think anyway), there is a VNC server app I recently looked at.

I haven't tried them, but they might be worth a try.

You have root access on the stock Android build that we released. If there is other Android build comes from other partners, then will depen on their willingness.
