Hello Pine64 Team,

I am a big fan of your open-source projects, and I would love to use the Pinecil V2. However, due to customs restrictions in Turkey, I am unable to import it into my country.

To overcome this issue, I would like to manufacture a Pinecil V2 unit for my personal use only. I have found the schematic and PCB placement files, but I need the Gerber files to proceed with PCB fabrication.

Since Pinecil is an open-source project, I was wondering if you could provide the Gerber files for Pinecil V2 or guide me on how to generate them from the available resources.

Thank you for your time and for supporting open-source hardware!

Best regards

I also notice that PS doesn't exist in the datasheet for the SC7A20, that pin is NC, although finding an English version was slightly hard, maybe there are different versions?

I used this as a reference for a custom board using it, before I was able to find an english datasheet, figuring that the pinecil is probably the most famous trusted application and whatever it does is probably right, but I'm having some issues getting it to work... Any advice?

Is this an old version of the schematic or something? I also just now noticed it says BMA223, which I apparently glossed over thinking it was a part of the package code, but actually that's a completely different accelerometer chip, so something funny seems to be occuring.

The SC7A20 needs CS pulled high, as far as I can tell from the other datasheet, and on my boards, the chip doesn't seem to be responding to an I2C scan.
I believe the Pinecil has dramatically changed the game in entry level soldering irons, even displacing soldering stations. With another accessory, it could do the same to desoldering tools.

I'd love to see a tip featuring a hollow nozzle, and a press-fit connection for a length of silicone tubing connected to a small (filter and) pump. The fast, precise heating and temperature control of the Pinecil would push this combo handily beat out the $300 price bracket of desoldering tools, like the Hakko FR-301, even without pump control in my hands.

Thanks for considering this!

Just a heads up for German and European users: I ordered some hall effect sensors and should have three (if I don't kill one when soldering) left to give to users so they don't have to order in Asia. Since customs and so on is ugly, I'll only ship within the European union.

I don't have them yet, ETA is 15 days. If you can wait, you won't have to order in Asia, I'll just send it to you in a letter. First come, first serve.

Price is US$ 1.6842 + 0.85€ shipping (a standard letter). I.e. I'll pay the shipping from Asia myself.
One piece per person.
NO GUARANTEES AT ALL.

Tell me in this thread if you need one.
Hope it helps someone.
Google didnt have anything bout that picture (hard to search for that tho) and I couldn't see anything in forums here about a nail with X. Clearly talking about the tip. Removed it cleaned it, made sure no debri on inside connections. Same thing. Is that a vague generic error picture or hopefully something fairly specific? Any webpage with the error icons explained? DOA seems crazy to me so I'm hopefull its something silly, cannot afford to buy another one. Never did look if a warranty of any kind exists. Thank you in advance.

What's the latest update on getting a tip to install threaded inserts?

They're commonly used in 3d printing and the off-the-shelf tip adapters for other irons do not fit the Pinecil.

Example:

 inserts.png (Size: 234.7 KB / Downloads: 447)

https://au.rs-online.com/web/p/threaded-inserts/0278534

The most common size the 3D printing community uses is M3, followed by M2 then M4.

The tips could be made in several ways but I think the second option of the two I've sketched up below makes the most sense:

If there was a tip with element that simply had a m3 screw thread I suspect someone with a welder could pretty easily whip up the varying heads and sell them cheaply online.

Hi!

I just purchased a Pinecil and an additional tip. Since the original package of the pinecil is really fine, I was wondering if I could put the additional tip also into the package for safe storage. Since the package has plenty of free space, I cut out the place for the additional tip.

My suggestion: Why not providing the original package with 3 cutouts for the tips, also if only one tip is included? This would be really useful for safely storing all together.

Hi everyone,
I have had my Pinecil for a few years now. I use it when I am on the road when I need a soldering iron. I have an Etsy case which holds the iron, a spare tip, and the case doubles as a stand. I am looking for a case that I can store the same, but also store flux and solder.
I was wondering what everyone else was using or can recommend.

Thanks,

Greetings, my first post hire
So i'm planning to connect Bosch tool battery (18V) to Pinecill v2.
The adapter for battery comes with option to use fuse, but ones that are used in cars.
Question is what fuse would be the best one to put hire; like what voltage, amperage? I also heard of quality ceramic fuses...
I'm guessing using one that would brake if 24V or 3.8A is reached (just a guess )

Another question is there to be bought multi-core silicone cable (2 cores) that is same quality as one that Pine64 USB cables are made of,
so temperature heat resistance up to 350°C and super smooth feeling.
