Running a PP Beta/kb/Manjaro/box86, life is fine in most categories. But chromium is glacial and links2 has developed issues bringing up news sites such as washingtonpost/reuters/etc (java complaints and so on).

Is there a very-modest browser that I'm missing? Graphics/video unimportant. I suppose links (vs links2) would be the fallback, but wouldn't mind something a little less stark.

Good day!

I received my PinePhone Beta Edition the other day and have input my nano-SIM. The following are issues I have getting the phone prepped for usage.

INFO

The phone states "Modem not available" when I navigate the settings menu (Settings > Cellular Network > (input pword) > "Modem not available")

Do I need to update APN settings? If so, how can I when https://wiki.pine64.org/wiki/PinePhone_A...sma_Mobile states "TBD"?
UPDATES
The phone notifies me via the home screen that updates are available, but fails to implement them and simply requests me to try again later.

I attempted updating via sudo pacman -Syu

I am prompted to replace many instances of <package_name> w/ <extra/package_name>

Selecting either option cancels the update.

I attempted to resolve the issue via https://github.com/pikvm/pikvm/issues/1211. Executing sudo pacman -S libgpiod states the package is currently updated and will reinstall. LOCK SCREEN

Each time the phone sleeps and re-awakes, I get an error that is not entirely discernible because the screen crops much of it out. I just know it recommends the execution of loginctl unlock-session c1. Note that this message only appears to happen when the phone induces automatic lockout (I have set it to 30 sec). If I manually hit the power button to sleep and again to awake it functions normally,

Although I just got the phone, I know for certain that this issue arose following my attempts to update (see section 2.1).

Here is what I can read of the error message. Each " ... " signifies a break in the error message due to the mentioned cropping.

Error msg: "locker is broken and unlocking is not possible ... to unlock switch to a virtual terminal (e.g. Ctr ... log in and execute the command: loginctl unlock-session c1 ... out of the virtual session by pressing Ctrl+D, a ... back to the running session (Ctrl+Alt+F2)."

I have to shut off and power on the device in order to get a normal unlock screen. If kept on instead, I get a boot screen(?) with touch screen controllable mouse w/out keyboard.
Hi all-

I bought a regular pinephone (beta).

It seems to want to install booting emmc first.
Being a newbie, I flashed spi on it.
It boots and hands it off to k splash for plasma manjaro.

Then it peters out with a kernel os error.

Pinephone support says reinstall OS which I am attempting to do.

Two things:
1) the pinephone doesnt synch with my pc at this time windows 11.
2) I cant get into the boot order in the firmware or reset in any way shape or form.

I have another thread posted today where i am debugging this issue but am waiting for further feedback.

It seems strange the choice to go with emmc first because 'stranger things HAVE happened' lol.

Please HELP.... thanks,
the output is a file named:

Hey

I am a fairly new user, just got my phone set up with a new SMS, installed all the updates etc etc.

I seem to be able to send SMS messages, but I only receive them some of the time. The last three people who have tried to send me an SMS message they did not go through. I didn't get any notification and they don't show up in my messages.

SMS app being used is Spacebar
Phone app in use is just "Phone"

The notifications for SMS when the phone is in sleep mode are also a bit dodgy/unreliable, but I am more concerned with not getting any message or notification at all when people are trying to contact me.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Just did another pacman -Syu, and it only refreshed the list of mirrors; on repeat it just said there was nothing to do. So my Manjaro Phosh is up to date, just like it was a few weeks ago.

However, since then the battery charge lasts less than a day. Before that it held for almost two days. Now if I charge it in the morning, and don't use it at all, by evening it's gone down to 2%, having shut down Manjaro. If I plug the red cable, it gives me the p-boot (now somehow stuck at the jumpdrive option, so if I accidentally press any buttons, that's what boots).

How can I find what's draining my battery?

Hello,
First post on the forum and I'm new to Linux, but crash-coursing so there will probably be a lot of basic questions. I'll try to give as much background as I can.

I purchased a Pine Phone Beta edition with convergence package. I settled on Manjaro Arm Phosh beta 34 for the distro. And I'm on the Metro PCS ( T-mobile network) in the U.S. So of course that means I have call, SMS, data, but no MMS.

I read through the article on how to set up Fractal through terminal (https://wiki.pine64.org/wiki/PinePhone_MMS_with_Matrix), but I'lll be real-- I was totally lost. I've run a few commands through terminal (like looking for clogged sms and clearing them), but without step-by-step guides or a DIY video I was lost with all that. So given the quick pace of distro development I opened Fractal and tried to set it up from there-- hoping for the best.

Fractal prompted me to create an account and directed me to Element. I did that. Element asked me to download Element apk from fDroid. I think I did that, but I don't see it on my phone. So then I went back to Fractal and tried to log in. When Fractal prompted for my "provider," I listed my identity server ( vector.im which according to Element doesn't support phone numbers ). I entered my login info for Element, but I keep getting " Can't Log in " in Fractal. I've tried both Username and <dvz_me_placeholder id="0" />:matrix.org and of course Password. I even tried the Manjaro username and password.

What am I doing wrong? Do I need to go back to Terminal and type a bunch of commands?

Thanks in advance.
