TL;DR: See the attached picture. Has anybody got a this Micro SDXC class 10 with 1 TB working in a PinePhone or PineBook? Could this be a PAGHY card?

I bought this card around May 2021 after I got the PinePhone in April 2021. My intention is to have a multi-distribution card as described on https://wiki.pine64.org/wiki/PinePhone_P...sing_rk2aw for the PinePhone Pro. In the time before last week I was busy with other things so the card wasn't really used much.

During the preparations several problems occured.
The first hint is "Alternate GPT is invalid, using primary GPT".

I don't have an external battery charger and if I connect a wall charger to the phone, the battery charges for a few seconds then tries to boot and dies after a few seconds tries to boot again, diess, over and over.
I did an amazon search on the replacement models in the wiki and the one I bought turned out to be about 6mm short in bothe diemension. Is there a specific battery that I can buy on amazon that will work in a PinePhone?
Is there a way to keep the PinePhone from trying to boot before the battery is charged enough to boot and run with a charger connected by USB?

I am looking for an original PinePhone Keyboard Case as it is not possible to buy it from the official store (and sadly will maybe never be).
Rii mini 4 keyboard and touchpad work over Bluetooth

Why to be smart if Bluetooth works?

I thought that the Rii mini 4 with 2.4 Ghz dongle would be the ultimate solution to solve the Pinephone keyboard problem. After a sleepless night in which I tested 6 cheap Aliexpress docks in all configuration with usb keyboard and mouse, none of the worked. Some time ago, one of them worked with usb keyboard and mouse, but I could not reproduce it. I thought a Rii mini 4 with 2.4 Ghz dongle would eventually the solution for the Pinephone keyboard problem together with the docking sation:

https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=19350

But in the morning I decided not to buy any further Pinephone accessoires for a Pinephone I never use and put on the screed and take it down again for some tests.

In the afternoon, I thought, why not to try the Rii 4 over Bluetooth? Reports of Zebulon Walton about a Bluetooth mini keyboard where horrible:

https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?...316&page=2

Now i paired the Rii 4 mini over Bluetooth to my Pinephone with postmarketOS. There where no disconnection issues during 3 min tests as where reported with other Bluetooth keyboards:

https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=13835

Keys, touchpad and scrollweel worked. One user reported to have issues with connecting a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse at the same time. Only one device worked, either keyboard and mouse. Other reported that Bluetooth keyboard and mouse work with Logitech devices:

https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?...316&page=3

But Logitech has not mini keyboards. The Rii mini 4 is a mini keyboard with dual mode BLE and 2.4 Ghz dongle. I did not get to work the 2.4 Ghz dongle, but the keyboard with touchpad.

The Rii 4 over Bluetooth is the best experience for a Pinephone keyboard for me personally to this date. It is available and worked for 3 min. reliably. And it has also a layout with many keys, similar to the Pinephone keyboard which makes it a great device. The keyboard is not much bigger than the Pinephone, and fit’s in a pocket.

I ordered a Rii 4 with a 2.4 Ghz usb dongle and connected it to the Pinephone via usb to usb-c cable

This keyboard is one of the most interesting keyboards for the Pinephone for me personally if it works.

I suppose it is with lesser issues than Bluetooth

But it was not possible to pair the keyboard to the dongle as described above.

Then I tried to use a usb keyboard and mouse.

Here are examples which show that this works with the PP:

https://petergamma.org/how-to-get-a-usb-...pinephone/

All of these examples use a usb-c dock

And here is a list of 3.th party docks which work with the Pinephone and keyboard and mouse:

https://petergamma.org/issues-with-four-...epone-pro/

I tested previously 3 cheap usb docks I bought on Aliexpress.

HDMI out worked with none of them.

keyboard and mouse worked with one of those, but I could not reproduce it today

usb-c adapters are tricky Sometimes I need to turn those around to get it to work.

I recently saw that is possible to read and write to an usb flash drive with an Android phone:

https://petergamma.org/the-problem-googl...oid-phone/

But it needs to be an OTG drive, and the right configuration in Android.

Do you have experience with these kind of adapters?

Does it need to be an OTG adapter for keyboard and mouse?

And does it need to be powered?

Currently my Pinephone is in a box in Zurich where it save from thieves. But I don’t know if it is worth for thieves to steal it. I did not use my Pinephone for a single day, although i dealed with it for many years.

And know I found that the Pinephone is almost daily driver ready for writers after many years. Look at the wonderful possibilities the Pinephone has for writers:

https://petergamma.org/selected-office-a...-zero-2-w/

There are other devices availble for office mobile, but what is special about the Pinephone is it’s hard wired keyboard. This makes it to a robust device.

The Pinephone keyboard has issues, but one can work with. And the issues are known. And eventually someone makes an updated version.

There are 121 pages in the Pine64 forum about the Pinephone since 10-17-2019, 05:48 PM. This makes the Pinephone from a bad device to a good device.

There are other devices out there which are better for the one or the other application. But we need to build these device first. And who wants to do that now that the Pinephone has become a good device for writers, and there is no need to build a new device?

If you care for a special Pinephone distro and you are a skilled coder, please put Word 97 in your app store if this is possible. Jackfish has put the instruction here:

I will not use Word 97 on my Pinephone. It easier for me personally to use it only with Abiword and change to another device which offers LibreOffice without issues. But Word 97 in an app store of the Pinephone would be a reason to come back to the Pinephone.

With the Pinephone keyboard and Word 97 the Pinephone is a good daily driver for writers, and also worth stealing for the thieves in Zurich. Since even if you have a lot of money it is difficult to find a better device for writers which makes the Pinephone worth stealing.

Hi everyone,

I am trying to run meshtasticd on my Pinephone.
Suddenly tough, the received bytes of the SX1262 are all zero, and I never managed to get the standard 0xA2 answer back.
I2C communication works still, which is why I am suspecting that the radio chip is at fault.
Does anybody know what I was doing wrong or how to debug this?

Onto the details, I simply implemented an SPI device driver which translates to I2C such that mestasticd can communicate with it as if the ATTiny bridge isn't there.
The code for the kernel driver and a dmesg trace with debug output can be found here: https://gist.github.com/pectec/ffddf32ae...041bc92bbe

Edit: I managed to damage it, Pine64 says that there isn't going to be a production batch anytime soon.

I can check the keyboard battery with UPower and it shows 100% but no matter how good/bad of a charger I connect to it, the power never gets to my phone. The good news is, I can type on it though.

So my question is, since there is no working connection to the charging chip, would it be safe to charge the phone directly while it is connected to the keyboard?
