PBP Speaker Replacement
#21
Here are the wires that normally connect to a speaker connected to an oscilloscope if that is useful to anyone. Is looks like the output is not a clean waveform, which seams unsurprising. It does mean I can't connect it directly to an amplifier though. I ordered 2 of these, which are small enough that I think I can cram them in the case while still being large enough for me to work with. It is a breakout for the NCP2820, which is a 2.65W amplifier.

The replacement speakers _really_ didn't work well for me. They are very quiet and will already distort at medium volumes.
The original speakers are way better (louder, clearer) than these.

I'm very interested to see how this goes. Please post your results!!

I would really like a speaker upgrade kit. for some reason manjaro and usb speakers do not get along very well. if anyone finds a different speaker set that works please find this thread again and add.

The new speaker was quieter. I think my next step is going to be to try to squeeze an amp in there to support higher wattage speakers.

This can be due to speakers not matching  If the speakers are not rated the same wattage you may encounter this. Did we ever find the datasheet on the same speakers. also is it possible you wired the new speaker with reversed polarity? I haven't opened my PBP yet but does anyone know if the speakers are wired parallel or in series? I'm also planning on upgrading the speakers soonish.

Edit: Brain fart They're stereo speakers so they are independent channels, not series or parallel.

it could be that you've got speakers with entirely the wrong impedance so the amplifier can't drive them?
