The referenced 192KHz and 384Khz just because they are highest. The board hardware capable of handle both 44.1KHz and 48Khz.

The hardware threat the PCM and DSD as data that goes into audio circular buffer, 64 and 128 Fs should be OK, not sure about 256Fs.

Yes, if you plan to natively decode DSD, ESS9018 is a best choice. Please note that DSD and DSD2 make sense, Above 2XDSD is just plain silly and number games.

In general, the I2S input formats is Philips type. However, the hardware also can handles EIAJ type (also call as Sony type),

Do you also support up to 24 bit 192Khz on the I2S input?
I could not find Master Clock input for the I2S input - is there one?

It would be great for other users to have this information on the pine64 audio wiki page

At current time I just try out I2S output and still not yet try out I2S input, not sure on the I2S input performance. The Master Clock is an output clock and this means the I2S in needs to sync with this clock. You cannot have two master clock (in and out) coexist at same time.

This is low costs and god performance Big Grin

Due to popularity, the audio DAC design will start on this week. It contains ESS Sabre ES9023 Audio DAC, opitcal Toslink and coaxial SPDIF output. This is two-in-one combo board as Joe mentioned. Please note that this board have not been included on Backerkit list and may include two weeks later.

Your choose this Pine64 HI-FI board , you will use nichicon hi-fi quality capacitors?
I don't know your HI-FI board will add capacitors and support 3.3v and 5v  , because some this Single-board computer HI-FI board have this capacitors , some is not use , so..................  Undecided

This ES9023 Chip need to use capacitors?
