Manjaro Arm on the pineH64
#21
New dtb is available on the same link. This one is with usb3 and wifi. No sound yet. For hhdmi-sound I have to recompile the kernel. If the patches work, I submit them to Manjaro-Arm.

You are a Hero!

Cool stuff, WiFi works like a charm, for USB3 I had no chance in checking this out as I don't have any USB3 Devices and Audio is not important to me.

Just let us know when Manajro-Arm has merged your changes, so that other users don't need to download and install a seperate dtb file. ;-)

I have added Manjaro ARM to the H64 Wiki Page, so it is easier to find for others in case they are not reading the forum.

@roel

just updated one of my H64B to Kernel 5.7.10-2 and something broke as the board is not booting anymore.

This is the output of UART

This is definitely a Kernel issue i think, because I tried a 5.8 Kernel from Arch and then it boots (kind of) without any HDMI output and after a while the Kernel hung.

I have attached a screenlog from UART

@as365n4

Did you try my dtb from my sourceforge page?

The problem isin the dts form the kernel and should be patched with the patch in attachement.  I didn't commit my patches to the manjaro team yet.  Not a lot of time for the moment.

Yes, I used the dtb from your sourceforge page.

Yeah Kernel 5.8 broke a lot of things, I operate some Rock64 on Arch and they all died as the uboot was too old and needed recompiling/updating to get the new Kernel working.

Don't worry, this is a hobby and should be fun and not the cause of stress. Wink
We can wait till you find time to push your patches upstream.
And once you have, just let us know and it will be fine.

I'm confused. Wifi doesn't seem to be working for me on a newly-built Manjaro-Arm distribution ... what would I need to do to enable the Wifi? Does Bluetooth come with the Wifi functionality since they are on the same chip?

@bapound,

I will look to compile a new kernel, I will report back. I didn't get the bleutooth to work. I looked at the schematics, did the necessary changements in the dts but the bluetooth isn't recognised by the kernel. Same for the sound. I stopped searching for it because there was a lot of activity in the kernel development that broke stuff the whole time. Normally kernel 5.10 should get more stable. For the moment linux 5.9 is just release so we should wait a bit for 5.10 but I will see what has to be changed in the dts to get stuff working again.

!!IAttention, I removed the link as there seem to be some issues!!

Sorry it took so long, but I found some time to build a 5.10 kernel.

It has some patches, so normaly it should boot from emmc, wifi works and sound hdmi also works. Everything for bluetooth is also implemented, but it doesn't seem to work on my board. If I check my dmesg, it states bluetooth is found but blueZ doesn't seems to find my bluetooth device.

I gave the kernel another name then the original manjaro kernel, so it isn't updated when updating your system.

On my sourceforge page you can also find my package build with additional patches for H64 (patch 0021 to 0027).

I see if I can build a image by the end of the week with this kernel.

Note: Don't expect high read write speeds from the emmc, there is something wrong with this on the PineH64 and until it's fixed, you will only have read/write speeds as from a SD-card.

Patches are posted to be included in manjaro-arm, expect the one for the emmc. I found out this patch results in bad behaviour on sd-cards. So I will post a custom dtb on my sourceforge page for those that want to run Manjaro-Arm from emmc.

I will update my sourceforge page this weekend with a new mate-image, the kernel package and the new dtb to boot from emmc.
