Power Consumption
#1
I am interested in the Power Consumption of the Pinebook Pro.

Software optimisations has been mentioned to likely come over time, but what is the current power consumption in Watts (measured at the wall) with the Pinebook Pro idle, fully charged and still connected to the wall?

With the screen Off (xset dpms force off), and at 100% brightness?

I suppose it wouldn‘t be more than 15W at full load (a power supply with 5V/3A is supposed to be enough), however for more details (e.g. at idle), someone else than me would probably know more.

I don't think proper tests of power consumption have been done, however some educated guesses could be made.

The RK3399 pulls about 6 watts at max load. When idle, it will pull a small fraction of that. With all the screen off, the power consumption of all the other components is negligible. Combined, it's probably no more than 6W, and likely a fair bit less if you have WiFi+BT disabled.

With the screen at full brightness, you're probably looking at 10 watts at most. I don't have the display panel datasheet on hand, but 4W is a reasonable (though a bit high) estimate based on other datasheets I do have.

Prob somewhere very close to the google OP1 powered rk3399 chromebooks as its practically the same thing.
Prob 350mAh-500

Actually, I do, it says 3,07W max: https://m.box.com/shared_item/https%3A%2...un1dcmjpr1

Guess we have to define `idle` are we in a suspend state, is the screen on? The battery life of the chromebooks was up to 9 hours and presume the batt info is easily avail.
Not sure if the op1 was 16nm or 24nm though if 24 then they will be very similar.
Could be as low as 4 - 6 watt "‎38Wh, advertised "up to 9 hour""

CORRECTION: I read it wrong, it is 3,87, not 3,07W max panel draw, so actually very close to 4W, though at 50% brightness, it‘d probably be closer to 3W or so.

Ps talking about consumption and haven't took much notice but I have a hunch that the proposed batt is likely slightly on the small size.
They would prob be better like the above chromebook  and offer it as an option. Chromebook was 38Wh!!!
That way rather than find out the hardway and have to order a latter extra its a little cheaper as the 10,000 mAH is removed from cost.
Just can not see 10,000 mAH doing the pinebookpro any justice and maybe shouting that now before sales is a good idea?

The RK3399 has no parallel to the pinebook Allwinner A64  its a superb Arm application CPU with quite a meaty CPU & GPU that meets what is entry level computing and until recently good enough for Google Chromebooks.
In use it is going to pull more power and also some may want to OC to OP1 of 2.0/1.5 as its silicon lottery but it will be a few who are unlucky that can not run stable at that.
10Wh me thinks is going to be quite limited for what is far more powerful than the original pinebook.

I have no idea what voltage it is or what voltage the chrome book is, as was too lazy to check.
I am thinking that it probable due to it being on the pinebook that it could be a tad short.
Maybe you should find out.
