RockPro64 won't boot.
#1
Just received my RP64, PSU, heatsink w/fan and (2) 64Gb SDHCs.
-- I Flashed Bionoc/LXDE with Etcher.
-- Connected the 12V/5A PSU, GRN power LED illuminates WHT LED illuminates.
-- Pressed power button for 1s, WHT LED turns off, RED LED blinks, and that's that. Nothing.
-- I've used Etcher to flash SDHCs for my Pi 3Bs and Odroid XU4 without any problems.
-- Looks like the SBC is dead. Sad
Q1: Does the fan spin up automatically or is it a PWM fan?
Q2: What to do from here?

TIA,

That turns it off, it automatically starts when power is applied.

The fan is controlled in software, check out this repo... https://github.com/tuxd3v/ats

Thanks.

-- Tried Bionic Minimal w/o pressing the PWR button.
-- No joy...same thing...no boot.
-- Tried the Armbian desktop image...no boot.
-- Just tried Ubuntu minimal on a new SDHC...no boot.
-- And yes, the SDHC contacts are facing up.

Q: So what am I missing here?

TIA,

Are you connecting the rp64 to a monitor or tv (HDMI or dvi adaptor)?

Something is happening, as the white LED is software controlled, also it usually takes 3 to 5 seconds for something to come up on hdmi.

Finally what's the full URL of the bionic image.

-- Using an HDMI-VGA adapter; OK with both a Pi 3B and Odroid XU4.
-- Direct download from ayufan's github page:
http://wiki.pine64.org/index.php/ROCKPro...5B0.7.9.5D
-- Waited several minutes...nothing.

Oh well...time for an RMA...or credit on return.

This is so embarrassing...

The thermal pad for the heat sink/fan?
I applied it as one piece, no doubt shorting out some of the SBC's SMT devices.

RP64 on line!!

I have a dvi adapter to a monitor and suffer the same issue. To get round this issue I manually enter in the screen resolution.

Add the following to /boot/efi/extlinux/extlinux.conf at the end of the append line.

Code:
drm_kms_helper.edid_firmware=edid/1920x1080.bin

I would try the related armbian debian image. Connect only the power supply and the ethernet cable. After power on check your router's web interface to see if it assigned an ip address to it. Then try to connect through ssh to that ip and use the armbian standard credentials user: root password: 1234.
