One card - many OS?
#1
I have a 512GB card. Is it possible to load many operating systems on it and pick which to use when (or IF since I have problems with my board) boot up?

Maybe not that much since the card is one of these: http://www.happybison.com/reviews/how-to...sd-card-8/

Yeah - last i checked there was some US company offering 512GB Micro SD cards for around 1000 US$. A litte strange to pair this with a board which is 20 bucks or something.

I got it to back up my computer and it ended up in my phone. I never use all of it.

So it seems you already know and accepted that you bought a fake card, right?

Regarding the other cards you're trying to use (all new, 'genuine' and from Best Buy)... guess what, they sell fake cards too since everyone is selling these cards since they get into the supply chain pretty early: http://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?t...58#pid4458

And you still wonder that you don't succeed burning an image?

If we could kindly bring this post back on subject, I would love to know how to build a multi-OS boot system, as I do have a couple of 128GB cards that work?

@tkaiser,

this is why, on the wiki page for software downloads/install, the very first step, is to verify the card you have, using either of the methods they detail, either with H2testw or F3. i did, and verified all 64 GB MicroSDs i got via internet mail order were, indeed, 64 GB.

you can also, on mac os x or linux, if the MicroSD is pre-formatted, just plug it in to your computer and run —

Code:
$ df -H /dev/diskX

where the 'X' is whatever disk number the MicroSD is. that will tell you right away if it is the capacity you're expecting.

and i agree with others here — let us please end the tangents and hijacking of threads with personal axes to grind. i, for one, one would really appreciate an answer to this issue, as i would love to have several OS's on one MicroSD and be able to switch boot into them.

if you have an issue with a proliferation of bad MicroSD cards, please post in a separate thread, though i doubt anyone here will be able to do anything about it.

best,

Why is everyone hung up on my cards.

So far no one has answered the first question. Can I put different operating systems on one card or not? At this point I'm hating the new board to the point where I can't use it at all and want to get my money back.

JUST ANSWER MY FREAKING QUESTION!

I have been using a REAL 32 for the last little bit for my Pi2. I used it for the Pine64 and it doesn't work at all with it. The program just stalls or after burning it, it doesn't do anything. At this point I'm done with the Pine64. Pi2 is better and at least I can use it. I'll be making a claim to my credit card company to get my money back.  At least the people in the forums for the RPi are not all assholes.

Theoretically multibooting is possible but requires someone to spend time on the relevant software infrastructure (i.e. bootloader)
