Was 0.6.44 actually, Luke :-P

Maybe we should stop playing wacka-mole with the release numbers and just leave it at "newer" not-so-green-and-experimental images are available? Big Grin Big Grin

And probably also point out that people who have been trying some of the earlier 0.6.x images may want to upgrade to 0.6.44 ASAP, as there are some memory timing gremlins which may only be identifiable after a full memtest, and may cause data corruption long term if they are affected. Edit: I don't mean to be alarmist - it is certainly possible a lot of the images are fine, but some of the images do have memory related and timing gremlins, so even if it does boot, it could have problems that bit you later.

To test on a board with 4GB of memory, run (the 3G is the parameter that specifies the amount of memory to test, 3GB in this case):

Code:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install -y memtester
sudo MEMTESTER_TEST_MASK=6144 memtester 3G 1

And if run with no error, your setup should be fine. If it spits the dummy with a load of
Code:
FAILURE: 0x6bcf4519d723f861 != 0x9430bae788dc3f86 at offset 0x00000008.
FAILURE: 0x9430bae628dc0786 != 0x6bcf45187723c071 at offset 0x00000010.
FAILURE: 0x6bcf4519d723f871 != 0x9430bae788dc3fb6 at offset 0x00000018.
you have problems waiting to happen!

Note - do not omit the MEMTESTER_TEST_MASK - it ignores tests that would trigger false positives.

I ran a test
Code:
root@rock64:# sudo MEMTESTER_TEST_MASK=6144 memtester 3G 1
memtester version 4.3.0 (32-bit)

pagesize is 4096
pagesizemask is 0xfffff000
using testmask 0x1800
want 3072MB (3221225472 bytes)
got  2738MB (2871566336 bytes), trying mlock ...locked.
Loop 1/1:
 Stuck Address       : ok
 Bit Spread          : ok
 Bit Flip            : ok

Done.

Beautiful, and thanks. On 0.6.44?

I've run it on these images so far after a false start and wrong memtester mask, and haven't had issue, but once I've finished that, I'm hoping to run a few more tests and then get it to fail repeatedly.

Note that 0.7.4 isn't on github anymore atm - it was a build that came out when he was testing getting the rockpro64 builds to work, and has been axed now both are being generated together, so 0.6.44 is still the latest image at time of writing.

My rock64 (ROCK64_V2.0 2017-0713 4GB) :

After "apt upgrade" to 0.6.41, boot stopped at "Starting resolvconf-pull-resolved.service...".
Reinstalled with bionic-minimal-rock64-0.6.44-239-arm64.img.xz, working now.

I just got my new 4 GB Rock64 today, loaded up stretch-minimal-rock64-0.6.44-239-arm64.img which I had downloaded a couple days ago, and for every keypress I get on the console some line about rockchip-sip.  I looks like it's not interpreting the keypresses right either: I don't think I typed ooikcd.

I can probably mount the SD on a Pi and edit a file if I knew what to change.  I have a screen picture but no online host so I guess I can't post it here, at least yet.  The lines say something like:

[  203.143690] rockchip-sip: function[82000008: args:[2,0,2] => res:[ (goes out of view)

I had tried an Ubuntu something from Ayufan earlier and it worked better, but I don't really like Ubuntu.  I want Debian, minimal is fine as long as it takes standard arm64/aarch64 debs.  I'm running arm64 Debian Buster on a Pi right now.  I've used debootstrap a few times, should I start with that?

Thank you, I thought I'd seen something about a keyboard issue, couldn't find it again when it actually happened to me.
