And yes, the Playstore doesn't work. I can recommend aptoide as an altenative app store (just make sure to only install apps with the green shield symbol).

I have tried the EMMC version. For me, I had to use Etcher to flash it to EMMC as the PINE64 Software Installer would not flash a valid, working image that would successfully boot.

On the EMMC version of Android 8.1, the Google Play Store appears to be partially broken. App URLS will open but stall when trying to install. They just say "Install pending..." and never install.  Apps / APKs in Aptoide also do not install -- they will download but not install and are not in the Aptoide or Download directory.  Also, the EMMC image is only 8GB and there does not appear to be a way to expand it to the full size of your EMMC; like, I have a 32GB EMMC and can only use ~3BG after installing Android with the rest of the EMMC as unformatted, not usable space.

This seems to be an ongoing issue with customers. 8.1 does not seem to have working Ethernet and there is no way to uninstall updates when receiving the error about opening the Google Play Store.

Also the stock image want to boot into TV GUI instead of launcher.

Any ideas?

Is a eMMC flash memory really required to get a stable Android installation??

I have tried to install different version of the SD boot able android distro's but only the android-7.1-rock-64-rock64_atv-v0.3.13-r115-raw.img seems to be "stable". But the Google play store does not contain all the apps I would like to install. (e.g. DR TV)
The non TV version freeze and is not useable for me.
Version 8.1 has no Google Play support - How to install your apps?

Another question, why is the layout of the TV and non TV android installations almost identical (i can't see the differens) I had expected something similar to the PINE64 Android versions or a Android tablet.

I'm using the same SAMSUNG 64 GB EVO micro SD XC 1 as i used to use for my PINE64 media center installation (which worked much better than my new ROCK64)

i had no problems installing Armbian Debian Stretch on another board i'm using as a file server.

i can see in this forum i'm not the only one with SD card issues, so what would you suggest me to do, shall I invest in a eMMC card or just skip the Android installation and go back to my Pine64?

If they release a "tablet style" Android it will be a miracle. I wanted to use this board with a touchscreen but the Android Roms with TV layout are almost useless with a touchscreen display....

Why is it so incredibly hard to make a simple bootable eMMC card with android for Rock64? I have not been able to, should simply be able to write it using the special etcher software but it doesnt even see the card during bootup... I think I will have to give up on this.

Is there going to be a non TV version as well? So we can use it with touchscreens?

Is there any minimal support on this image? Does anybody try this on Rock64 4Gb (with audio DAC)?
It does not work for me. After flashing the eMMC with the file
http://files.pine64.org/os/ROCK64/androi...4GB.img.gz
using etcher and usb2emmc adapter, the Ethernet port does not work. System shows Ethernet Not connected, the link LED on the port is constantly ON and no matter cable is connected or not.
Nothing works for me since 7.1 ATV. Neither 8.1 nor 9. What i'm doing wrong?
I think i did it wrong when bought this card a year ago.
