some questions regarding the PADI

first of all: how can it be this cheap?
second: i love the concept, but it would be more convenient for first time users to have both the programmer and stamp module on one breadboard/breakout module.

anyhow, not diving into some more questions before i purchase a few units for myself.

1: what is the wifi range in open air?
2: is there a document on the module for more in depth info, like gpio pinout, gpio functions, power modes and their current draws, ect.
3: until how far can the core clock be sped up? i saw 166mhz somewhere on the forum, can this be confirmed working stable (as it is a 200% OC)?
4: what are coremark and dmips of this cortex m3?
5: what default arduino libraries can be used with this module?
6: does the mcu have a built in eeprom (or emulation thereof)
7: what's the exact brand + type of the mcu used (it's not stated on product page, and so i can look more data up myself when i need to)
8: how much of the flash and ram are available for the user (aka, how much resources do the default functions + bootloader use?)
9: when one designs a product with the stamp module in it, does the product need to have certain requirements? (licence fee per unit? or must it be open source?)
10: maybe a silly question, but what's the height of the module?

It's cheap because it's pretty basic hardware all things considered. All the hardware is on one chip.

1: Not sure, but it's not going to be especially far given that it is a small board antenna.
2: Datasheet here and Pinout here
3: Absolute limit probably depends on individual limit, just like CPUs. But unless you need the extra performance, I wouldn't mess with it.
4: At 83.3Mhz, should be 180.7 CoreMark and 104 DMIPS
5: Currently there is not a library especially for the Padi, but you can just control it over the normal Arduino serial library.
6: No EEPROM, just the 1MB SPI flash.
7: It is a Realtek RTL8710AF. As you are already aware, the MCU core is a Cortex-M3.
8: The stock firmware is in ROM separate from the flash, leaving the full 1MB of flash available. I don't know how much RAM the firmware uses and can't check right now.
9: Ask tllim.
10: 3mm.

i'd suggest doing a search on the padi stamp in this forum because there are some essential bits of information you should know prior to purchase, particularly if you plan to build the breadboard yourself. some of your questions in your post would have been answered by doing the search & reading the hits prior to your post.

... having said that, also, the unit is so inexpensive that just purchasing two or three of them isn't going to set you back and you can experiment the answers to your questions too;  I'll just say its a pretty phenomenal little device the RTL8710 !
