New pre-release Ubuntu img

Just a heads up, a new pre-release from ayufan. For those who wish to make a clean install rather than an upgrade, its worth noting that you will benefit from having the GUI updater working without having to expand /boot partition manually.

Great to hear!

Bugger! Smile I've just re-installed... Might still go ahead with this one just for the changed /boot partition.

You should be able to use GParted from a microSD card (you may need to install it, I don't recall seeing it installed by default) and resize the eMMC partitions... but depending on what you have on the eMMC, it may be quicker to just boot from a eMMC, and use  the install_to_eMMC script to force install version 0.6.2 (as it's still pre-release for testing)

How to install it from the scratch?

Depending on your version of gparted, the disk may get clobbered;  ayufan and I discovered that the best way to expand the filesystem on the disk is to use the script resize_rootfs.sh which uses gdisk.  Once I got my eMMC loaded the script worked very nicely to expand the file system across the entire eMMC.

I also used the gdisk script to expand the SD card filesystem.  My version of gparted caused numerous problems;  I have abandoned it.

The reason for this is that the gpt is not on the back of the disk where gparted expects it;  it will not continue unless you allow it to 'fix' the problem, and when it fixes the problem (for gparted) the gpt is now clobbered on the eMMC or the SD card.

from my experience using gparted on other sbc that are running of a live gparted flash drive it is possible to partition the sd card first and then using the same flash drive during the same session install a o/s on the freshly created primary partition and the newly installed o/s will only work within that prior created partition when it comes time to expand the filesystem. this is similar to the method western digital used to be able to populate the pidrive hard disk system with multiple o/s on one hard disk.
