The Sandisk eMMC module on Pinebook already works and thanks to ayufan.

Please download build 0.7.19 from build ayufan github 0.7.19 and boot from SD.

Using terminal and issue follow command:

sudo install_to_emmc.sh xenial-mate 0.7.19

There is another method, FEL programming. However, this method can be very complicated for first time user.

Further to what tllim wrote, you can find instructions to put the PB into FEL on ayufan's git. But I'd suggest you pick up a SD and spare yourself the headache (especially if you dont have an A-to-A cable at hand for the OTG port).

Where I can find a step by step instruction for the update process?

I found an SD card and have burned there Debian before, so — I need to download mate image from here (https://github.com/ayufan-pine64/linux-b...tag/0.7.19 what file I need to choose?) and burn it to sd card?

my understanding was that i'm buying the pinebook without an operating system.
so, strictly speaking, it's not their task to isolate operating system related problems for you.
but in my experience they (not sure how many people are answering emails) have been friendly and helpful.

For the Pinebook you want this image. It will run off of the SD card. If you want to flash the image to eMMC then you can either 1) get the Pine64 installer and download the SD -> eMMC image and then update the image (follow instructions on ayufan's git) to the newest pre-release or 2) modify the SD->eMMC installation image so that it flashes the newest pre-release.
