I have got my 11" yesterday, and have same issue, didnt had the chance to check, but almost sure this is related to lack of hardware acceleration in Linux. I have seen it before when Ubuntu changed to Unity and only NVIDIA was supported.

The 14"  does not appear to have this problem at all;  ubuntu image is clear, distinct, and bright;  no flashing issues and no artifacts on the screen.

Strange being the board the same, but always different screen, will check deeper later on... thank you..
