Enclosure issue
#11
It really is a terrible case design. A pain to open with a screwdriver before the A64 is in place and impossible to open without damage or pre-dilling access hole after the a64 is in place. And yes, I also ordered the IoT kit and yes the case doesn't accommodate the z-wave module. Complete waste of time and money.

While the A64 is a nice device the design and technical team really stink in terms of docs, support, response time to emailed queries, and just about everything else.

I agree with all comments on this thread. Very very bad design for this enclosure. No access to the SD card when there is no proper OS yet available is really annoying. We will have to change it on regular basis until to get something almost stable and this case is not helping. The big hole is ugly and I do not really understand why they didn't put a removable plate. I was waiting the case to see which kind of power and reset buttons can fit and I didn't expect to get just a hole...
In addition, if there is not enough space to insert the z-wave module, I think that pine64 has to fix this issue by creating a new box and sending it to all IoT backers. It is unbelievable to make a package with items that are fitting together.
I didn't try my z-wave module because there is no OS supporting it for the time being. I think that I will have to be really patient before getting something really fully functional...

The hole in the side and the lack of SD card access made the case a really big disappointment to me! I get the impression time was against them and they just wanted to rushed it out to fulfil the Kickstarter goals.  I'll be reluctant to back anything like this again it's just been an all round joke.

Note the image on the unofficial site doesn't have a massive hole...

Indeed. It certainly isn't what I was expecting it to be either! Unfortunately, that picture is of the first revision of the design... there were issues with the tooling and so they probably decided it was better to remove the issue (alignment) and just put the slot in, instead of make it so that more moulds would have to be made, meaning we'd probably still be waiting for the first cases to be shipped now.
