Pinephone fan case w. StructureCore cable option
#1
I just would like to mention that I made a pinephone case printable in 5 colors, containing the Tux logo and Pine64 logo (sort of fan item I would say - don't expect it to be a "protective" case). It is available with or without a protector for an OTG cable and a cable holder as well. I put the item on thingieverse in case anyone else would like one: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4933237

I also wrote a small piece of scanning software for StructureCore on the pinephone (it only scans and records, some preview and settings, nothing fancy). In case anyone is interested the source code I would love to share it. BTW You can find a protective StructureCore shell here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4933248

Summary for StructureCore on pinephone: there is nowhere near full scanner performance, I can scan around 5fps using the pinephone. It's great fun anyway! I just compiled (on manjaro) and it worked (except their windowing; however, gtk3 works finewith the library on manjaro).

Can you do one with exterior antenna jacks for lte, gps, and wifi and posibbly an extra battery of the same type that comes with the phone?

I guess it should be possible, if I have the specs for it (do you have them?). An extra battery pack would indeed be nice, how did you plan to connect it to the phone?

The LTE uses a cable to go between the main and USB-C boards, so that part would be relatively easy. The GPS and WiFi will be trickier as they use sprung contacts to the printed antennae on the inner frame. You might be able to make a flexi pcb to stick to the inside of the inner frame at the contact points and lead them to a connector I suppose, or go the invasive route by removing the sprung contacts and soldering a coax pigtail in their place.

I got my PinePhone PRO (explorer) today and can conclude the following:

a/ The fan case I made for the Pinephone suits the PRO just fine.

b/ The (occipital) StructrureCore software compiles without hazzle (need gcc, make, cmake and pkgconf, that's all, then just build it).

c/ (for my implementation), the Structrure Core can stream around 9fps (highest quality) as compared to around 5 for the pinephone. Even though this difference might not seem too big, it makes a difference when actually scanning.
