What's the point of a cluster?

Hi folks!

Sorry for the noob question but what's the point of a cluster? Is it a 28 core, 14 GB RAM machine? Will an application e.g. firefox browser use the power/ram of all sopine modules together? Since the modules are connected over ethernet, how does this work?
I thought about an replacement of my x86 Intel i7 and don't know if this is the way to go for me? (just related to performance, I know about SW limitation on ARM)

Can you enlighten me? Huh

No, there isn't even a display out on the cluster board.

This is for server use-cases and acts like 7 completely separate SBCs but in a more convenient package without all the ethernet cables.
