scaling suddenly makes most apps unusable

a recent update added a beautiful display to svkbd, menus, the statusbar, etc, but it also caused a lot of apps to scale terribly. Firefox renders half off the screen for instance.

as a workaround I added

xrandr --display DSI-1 --scale 2x2

to xinit and it works as a workaround, but there's a big performance hit. I'm not sure what caused the scaling issue will have to look into it at the end of my work week

the firefox mobile settings package was what i was missing, although having it introduces some annoying policies to firefox

the rest of the ui seems to be scaled poorly in portrait mode
