I got the same problem on my rock64 v2  dated 1713 on board.    Nothing but old bionic 4.4 works...nothing newer from armbian.
Switch to Arch-Manjaro  boots updates but won't compile without segfaulting.   Are these bad boards ?  IDK yet.
A nice guy at armbian bought one out of sympathy (on ebay its a v2 same date ) but he got one that boots new armbian on sdcard just fine.
