Hi. You don't necessarily need an eMMC-USB adapter. You can always boot from a sd card, download the new Debian image and flash it from there.

Thanks for your answers. But the SD card slot on my used Pinebook is unreliable. Hence I am asking about eMMC-USB adapters ...
