Notebook-workstation for power users?
#11
I am a bit too much of a pragmatist. I will order a Pinebook Pro in the future -- my current laptops have worse specs, being about a decade old. The issues I have are with software -- photo processing and statistical analysis -- and at present I'm haning off for a couple of months waiting for the first issues to be sorted and at that time I'll probably have a dead laptop that I need to replace.

Rant on: most CPUs we have can do almost anything you want to do at a reasonable speed. Bar gaming, and perhaps video processing. The issue is having a kernel that plays nicely with the software. If you think of it, a Chromebook assumes that the cheap processors we have can run anything via a web browser. Power users now are either running massively parallel systems, or gamers. Rant off.
