Visual Pinball?

While anxiously waiting for my PINE64 to arrive my mind has been racing with all the cool things I might be able to do with it.

One thing I'd like to try to do is turn it into a virtual PINEball machine.

I was wondering if anyone knew if the PINE64 is capable of running Visual Pinball or Future Pinball?

Thanks!

Don't know a great deal about this, but both Visual Pinball and Future Pinball seem to be Windows programs based on x86 architecture. Pine does not run Windows and is ARM architecture.

Looking slightly more deeply, it appears Visual Pinball emulates actual Pinball machines via an emulator similar to MAME for arcade games, called PinMAME, this may be available for Linux...

...ah but looking into it, it seems it is in fact only available on Windows as suspected. There is a header for Linux, but it reads 'Not Available Yet' and since the last significant Windows update was 2010, I'm guessing that status may not change any time soon.

Sorry to be the bearer of disappointing news. If you want to pursue pinball on the Pine (and I may do this myself also, as I love pinball), you might consider a video game emulator, such as a PlayStation emulator, and run one of the Pinball games available for that. From what I remember, Pro Pinball: The Web has fantastic physics and a decent table.

Oh! You've also got The Pinball Arcade for Android! That has real tables, is modern and up to date, and has a great physics engine! That would definitely be the way to go! Big Grin

Edit: Zen Pinball (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zen_Pinball) is also available on the Google Play Store.
