I replied in more depth in your other thread (please do not make multiple threads btw) but the short answer is: yes, serial to USB adapters are very common, and CH340 and FTDI[0] based ones (maybe others, too) should do the trick. Brand name does not matter, and it should not cost more than a couple bucks. But, since you are traveling, whatever you can find...

It is a very common tool for anyone who is working on embedded devices. So keep that in mind in your travels, and maybe you get lucky. If that happens, we expect to hear your story about similar thing like the laundry repair facility. Big Grin

[0] There is a whole lot more to this choice, do a little internet searching if you are interested in the differences.
