Pinebook Pro & PinePhone shipping progress (2020)

I believe PBP is not part of the DHL upgrade (and I also can't understand how can we 'upgrade' FedEx express shipping to the DHL express shipping... they provide basically the same service to the worldwide, with wide coverage to the most countries... but I digress), and to my country (according to the Pine) PBP cannot be shipped by the DHL due to some issues.

There is literally a global pandemic currently on-going - 400,000 people have died and a $#!^ load more have lost their jobs - and both of those headcounts continue to grow. Global shipping logistics have been interrupted on a level almost unprecedented in modern times - seriously, it doesn't matter that you "bought a bunch of other stuff from China and it got here sooner than this."

Here, here.

While there's been difficulties and they have been frustrating, we should bear in mind that Pine64 are a foundation and not a corporation. They don't have the same organisation and "clout" as Amazon and friends that we've been made to expect. But neither are they "taking the money and running", for I've bought from them before and everything arrived on time.

The circumstances are exceptional, and I think due to that we should temper our tones on this thread. The last thing we want to do is discourage the foundation from any more work. Their task is very necessary; we need a fully (or nearly fully) Free-Software compliant mobile phone that succeeds.

The words we speak in these threads have a real-world effect on the workforce, who are already under enough pressures from the pandemic and social unrest. We should strive to be encouragers, and work with them to resolve issues. Let's not work against them. They aren't the same cynical, haughty profiteers as you find in every corporation. They're much closer to being "on your side" than any McCompany or iProductMaker.

Even if we've waited longer than anticipated, I think the frustration will all be forgotten once the phones arrive. And arrive soon they will! Here's to free and open hardware Cool  (we need a "cheers" smiley with tankards)

Furthermore, at least half of the negativity here is about *speculative events* - if the email about shipping upgrades doesn't explicitly mention a refund upon cancellation, before you throw a temper tantrum on the internet you need to wait until you *actually cancel your order and then fail to receive a refund*. Your amateur prognostication is completely worthless except to warn everybody around that you might be a narcissist who insists on interpreting every unforeseen circumstance or challenge as somehow being a personal affront.

If the ~$200 USD you put down on this early-access cellphone is going to break your rent check then you should not have bought it. And if it's not going to break your rent check then you need to sit down and take a massive chill pill. You know what's not going to help the people in charge respond promptly to your emails? If all of you blast them with your whinging. You know who is going to come out hurting way worse than you in this transaction? Pine - I can almost guarantee that.

So quit acting like you've got a monopoly on bad luck and the whole world is out to screw you - go for a walk, find a new hobby that either doesn't involve experimental Linux phones, or that can be conducted with the experimental Linux phones that you already have. It's understandable to be frustrated, it's human to be upset, but it's childish to whine about it, especially in public.

I totally agree. People are getting it. They aren't making profit on it. It's a community so calm down. You can always buy a chromebook and/or android phone and tinker it. We are in a pandemic, calm down.

165$ is quiet enought summ to worry about(at least in Russia and according to cercumstances is a bug enought summ for ex its atmosphere my wifes half of salary) . Moreover even while I can afford this phone dev kit its not meaning I cant find better work for my money. I mean why the hell should I buy a thing and than being sayed wait for update for almost two months, being ignored by sales team, never answered in chats from pine team. And than just sayed 'we can not deliver to your country'. It is fu.. Ing unprofessional. If you say you deliver you should in other way you should not accept the orders. And I'am as a customer not interested in the whole damn situation in the world, its not about it, I'm interested in product I payed for being delivered. All of the curcumstances are the problems of buisiness not customers. And you guys who says this is right, you realy think its okay? Seriously? Just came to live to Russia for a year or two and you get my vision. If you leave the things as it is it will be this way forever. I'm realy mad on this situation the most part on myself because I was watching for the braveheart edition and I see the same things were in that batch.

I have to say that I agree with part of your message. Sending phones is being difficult due to the situation of the CoViD-19 and we must have patience and show support for Pine64 so that the Linux project continues to grow. That being said, I think we should also be open to criticism and learn from it.

Please do not conduct ethical evaluations, mixing complaints about how the shipping of the phones is carried out with the death of Covid.

Let's not cover anyone's mouth. Only transparency will make Pine64 not only a pioneer in Linux phones accessible to all, but a community that lives up to what this project implies.

Make the famous phrase yours: "I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it"
I got my pinephone today, hurray!I am so exited.
