Better performance

Hello, who could help me, which is more convenient for a plex server, a Pine64 4 gb ram, or an i3 notebook with 4 gb ram, both with ethenet gigabit, I want to watch movies remotely, the amount of users are not more than 5.

Google traductor.

I suggest the ROCKPro64 for that. But even 2 users will be a strain with certain types of transcoding.
You can find me on IRC, Discord and Twitter

If you don't need transcoding, even the base model Rock64 will work fine.  Just transcode your files to a compatible format ahead of time and let it stream those.

Currently run a plex media server on a 1gb raspberry pi 3b+. I have this Rock64 4gb on order, thinking it would outperform what I already have, but after reading these forums, I am now wondering what their return policy is like :-)

Hopefully, I will be happily surprised, yet.

I have a Rock64 running Plex. It struggles with transcoding, but works great as a Plex server. I'm waiting for my RockPro64 to arrive, as I plan to move that into my Plex server and hoping it can do some transcoding, not that I really need it.

Overall though, the Rock64 is wayyyyy better than the RPi. I have several, and trying to phase them out and replace them with the Rock and RockPro... just overall a more advamced product.

I use my Rock64 for web hosting and reverse proxy server to some other RPis.

As of yesterday, I now have a freshly redone Armbian Stretch Desktop running Plex Media Server, Radarr, Sichchill and NZBGet. This time around I used armbian-config to install Plex and Radarr and install the rest myself.

It is working very well. Imaged it up for safe keeping, but I am very curious as to how much better a 4gb RockPro64 would be. Love to trade it in. Smile

Please post your findings.

As soon as I get it and am able to play with it, I'll try to post back. I guess mine got stuck in customs/is lost. There's been no status updates since Feb 1st.
