Pine64 Debian Stretch/mainline [4.14.7]
#41
I seem to have broken something in my efforts to reduce the image size: USB connected keyboard does not work on boot (I can only SSH in). Do you know what package I might have removed to break this functionality? Is there something I can apt install to fix it? I can nit-pick through and figure it out but I thought someone might know off the top of their head.

Smile

Thanks!

Hi all. This image also appears to be affected by the same bug mentioned in these two Armbian threads:
- https://forum.armbian.com/topic/7423-pin...k-problem/

My Pine A64+ running your image exhibits the identical symptom (RTC is correct yet Local Time becomes +95 years in the future), as documented here on my blog: http://www.baldnerd.com/ntp-on-debian-re...he-future/

Unfortunately, they share the issue (Kernel config is missing CONFIG_FSL_ERRATUM_A008585=y) but not how to change that.

Could you please assist? In Part 5 of the blog, you'll see I attempted to change my config by editing the config file in /boot, installing the headers, running make oldconfig and make config, but that did not work. I've surprisingly never patched a kernel before so I'm entirely green here.

Thanks!

Shame to see this build is dead. The timer bug is a showstopper, and the lack of support is discouraging. Moving to Ayufan's build.

Uh, hi everybody after a long time!
I've got busy at work and private life later on, now I am somewhat back.

With 4.19 kernel release I've grabbed the project again and I'm slowly getting all the packages recompiled and working again! Hoping to get some newer update in a reasonable timeframe. I'll take a look at the errata posted, I think I've already enabled it in the 4.19 kernel config already.

Good to know you're back! I was playing with your build scripts, I wanted to see if I could make a ubuntu build out of this. I went as far as updating the kernel to mainline stable  4.18.15  with the RTC erratum applied and changing the rootfs to an ubuntu base (bionic). Things are working though I was still fixing stupid things such as ssh server not properly starting when I had to stop (and I still need to get my self a USB/UART adapter).

Hi!

Just tried your image and it is the first time my pine "feels" like a real linux.
Only thing I could not find in this thread .. I cannot see/get the Wifi Module working. Am I missing something? Is it still deactivated in the kernel due to the PCIe problems?
It would be a pity to not having Wifi available.

Is it possible to compile and add the module? I know the normal linux way of kernel things but it seems pine is doing kernel things a bit different.

looking forward for a 4.19 (4.20? - 5.0 ) kernel ;Wink
If there is anything I can test/help with - just drop a note.

Hi Luke,

I know, and I think I tried them all, but this one from CallMeFoxie is the first one that really "feels" like linux.. All the other ones did not feel or work well.
There is only this thing with Wifi here (well and maybe some other things) but still this image works well.

Looking forward for a Linux 5.0 kernel (I think the A64 Support is already in there).

regards.

A kernel including the fix is now available from the Debian Backports archive. You need the package linux-image-4.19.0-0.bpo.5-arm64 version 4.19.37-3~bpo9+1 or newer.

Alternatively you can just install linux-image-arm64 from backports which always depends on the latest kernel in backports.

Hope this helps

Hello,
Looks like it has been awhile. Can I assume this project is dead.
Thanks
