Wifi doesn't see 5 GHz network
#1
None of the distributions I've tried will let me connect to my 5 GHz wifi network at home, because it only shows the 2.4 GHz. The hardware supports 802.11n, so why doesn't it show my higher speed access points?

I have the Mobian CE with Convergence.

Thanks!

The Pinephone wifi hardware only supports 2.4 GHZ.

The spec for the phone says 802.11b/g/n. n is 2.4 and 5. That's according to Wikipedia. So, Pine64 doesn't implement 5 GHz. Okay, thanks for your help.

I've seen other 802.11n devices that support 2.4 GHz only, like the Asus RT-N16 router I had around 10 years ago. These days it is kind of an odd limitation. For what it's worth the specifications listed for the Pinephone in the store specify that the wifi is "single-band".

5GHz wifi is 802.11ac. (or better).

As per the shop and the wiki the PinePhone supports 802.11b/g/n, n being an improvement of g, g being an improvement of b, all in the 2.4GHz range.
