RE: External DAC - mbt28 - 02-09-2017

I cannot find out what is the latest status with i2s support? Can we use these ports on linux and Android?

I recommend using that one as it also allows us to receive a log when you wish to send without hassles.

Next update would be if someone wishes to integrate a DAC and has all the software ready for us.
You will have my full support.

@tllim
Then mean you will sales the dac board ?
Yes. this is a long overdue project :-(

We already know it is not a pine64 wifi driver/ kernel module issue, I can run volumio on the second wifi interface using manual scripts.
There is a volumio internal clash somewhere on handling wlan0, seen occasionally on other devices too.
We hope to locate that soon.

Having said that:
@tllim: is there any new info on DAC developments yet?
Ready to integrate that in volumio anytime  Cool

Sorry on the delay, please refer to attached PDF file.

The original hardware engineer keep delay this project. I will find another engineer to complete the board after Chinese New Year.

Hi,

What is missing exactly?
Missing "time"

RE: External DAC - ealltech - 02-28-2017

A quick question to the devs!

Would the i2s port support bidirectional audio? I.e I would like to have the ability to pass through audio using this board, like some kind of basic DSP.

Additionally, would the pine64 support Android M (Given it's 192khz audio sampling rate) which would be of great interest to everyone looking at the pine64 + i2s DAC for car audio!

Have you even read the other posts in this thread ?

Specifically, post #4 of this thread, where TL points out that the I2S has both data in and data out support.

(01-03-2016, 12:14 PM)tllim Wrote: The Pine A64 board has its own I2S bus include I2S data in and out pins and SPDIF out pin, the audio project should be easier than RP.

Very nice for the records, but as long as we do not have any drivers for it, it is of no value
Unless something has been done already, .which would be of real interest.

RE: External DAC - gkkpch - 03-07-2017

BTW, we have officially released Volumio 2 for pine64,  see Michelangelo's blog post

RE: External DAC - cr2016 - 03-09-2017

Getting lost with the connectors and signals... Wondering when the 'official' pine64 DAC might come out, there are several DACs in the Volumio shop, are they pin-compatible with the pine64 or is a pin-to-pin wire connection necessary?

Edit: will anyway likely start with an USB DAC...

I think there is a misunderstanding, the DACs offered in the Volumio online shop are not compatible with Pine64 (yet). At least, not as long as there is no suitable i2s driver for Pine. And yes, a pin-to-wire would be necessary.
