RE: Manjaro Arm on the pineH64 - roel - 07-03-2020

I'm waiting for the emmc they send me.  I hope I get it every minute now.  When I receive it, I will do some testing.

I was able to build an image and flashed it onto an eMMC Module, but the board won't boot from eMMC.
Attached is a copy of the serial output on UART.
Any advice on how to fix this issue?

OK, try this, put your emmc module in your pc, go to the boot partition and open the extlinux folder.  In the extlinux.conf file edit the line:

initrd=/initramfs-linux.img console=tty1 console=ttyS0,115200 root=LABEL=ROOT_MNJRO rw rootwait bootsplash.bootfile=bootsplash-themes/manjaro/bootsplash

initrd=/initramfs-linux.img console=tty1 console=ttyS0,115200 root=LABEL=ROOT_MNJRO rw rootwait debug

If it still not boot, give me the output from the serial output.

RE: Manjaro Arm on the pineH64 - roel - 07-08-2020

So, I tested with a 64GB emmc from odroid. I got this message:

[ 3.220854] sunxi-mmc 4022000.mmc: data error, sending stop command
[ 4.219590] sunxi-mmc 4022000.mmc: send stop command failed

This should be solvable with this patch from Jernej:
https://pastebin.com/XeUbuWGG

Strange thing is I tried also with a 8GB odroid emmc, and with this emmc it boots fine (this is old emmc)

I just received the pine64 32GB emmc (big thanks to @tllim) and this one boots fine. So probably there is something different with the odroid emmc or it is because it's 64GB.

@as365n4
Can you give more info about your emmc?

RE: Manjaro Arm on the pineH64 - as365n4 - 07-12-2020

I've got Foresee NCEMAM8B-16G modules, these are sold through the pine store (or AliExpress).
The pine store SKU:16G eMMC and Barcode:8 92002 00270 6 and the datasheet can be found here --> http://www.kindlehk.com/updatefile/file/20190410195843_80336.pdf

And I have amended the config to debug, still no boot, but loads of text and this comes on repeatedly

RE: Manjaro Arm on the pineH64 - roel - 07-13-2020

Strange,

it's a complete different error then I have on my odroid emmc.

Which image did you build? SD or emmc? Which DE? I will build my own and see if it boots on my board.

Did you already try the official Android version on your emmc?

RE: Manjaro Arm on the pineH64 - roel - 07-13-2020

@as365n4

Can you try the dtb from this link: https://sourceforge.net/projects/manjaro-arm-pineh64/files/Manjaro-Arm-PineH64%20dtb/

Put it in the boot partition under dtbs/allwinner/ (rename the old dtb first, in case of)

RE: Manjaro Arm on the pineH64 - as365n4 - 07-14-2020

First I used --> sudo buildarmimg -d pine-h64 -e xfce and to speed up fault finding I used this --> sudo buildarmimg -d pine-h64 -e minimal and both behaved the same way.

I have downloaded the dtb file and the system booted and showed the script to finalise the install, after completing setup and resizing the disk it performed an reboot and it works now.  Cool

To turn off the debug messages can I just revert to this line below?

initrd=/initramfs-linux.img console=tty1 console=ttyS0,115200 root=LABEL=ROOT_MNJRO rw rootwait bootsplash.bootfile=bootsplash-themes/manjaro/bootsplash

Many many thanks for fixing the issue you are a star. Smile

Just for reference I have attached the output from UART

@roel

The dtb file from sourceforge does it contain a WiFi driver? As it seems to have missing wireless device, see below output from inxi -Fxxxz

Yes, you can just revert back to the original line.

Yes,

Wifi is not implemented, neither does sound or usb3.  I'm busy with it.  I guess a modified dtb will be ready this week.

No worries, I am mostly grateful that you got eMMC to work, everything else is an added bonus. Wink

And again thank you very much indeed for your hard work and dedication in bringing Manjaro to the H64. Cool
