RE: USB-C dock - KiSM - 03-18-2020

Hi all,

Bought a dock that works great, just added it to the wiki.

Ugreen 50771 USB-C Dock 6-in-1 HDMI
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32821301992.html (Multiple options on this page, I have only bought/tested 50771 6-in-1 HDMI)

HDMI: works!, Ethernet: works!, 3x USB: works!, USB-PD: works!

PD works with a HP 65W USB-C PD Charger (it does specify on the charger that it can do 5V3A)
PD works with a 5V3A USB-C charger (Tested using the Raspberry Pi 4 power supply)
PD does not work with a 5V2A charger.

Tested on Manjaro Arm 2020/03/18

Looks enticing. Can you confirm that there is also audio over hdmi?

If you have not tried it, does everything work at the same time, e.g. can you stream video over ethernet onto an external hdmi monitor while having some lightweight usb peripherals (such as a mouse and keyboard) plugged in?

So I plugged in:
  • USB-C PD
  • Ethernet
  • HDMI
  • 3x usb devices (mouse, keyboard, usb game controller)
It all worked together great. No HDMI audio though.

Yeah, I can see this dock being very useful for many users if the HDMI audio worked. It seems to be a pretty common issue with USB-C docks though. Does anyone know if it's a driver or panfrost issue and could be potentially be resolved in software?

That on sure looks good! But I'd like to wait a bit until there's more news about the Pine rebranded on that was spoken about a bit earlier. Any news on that one?

RE: USB-C dock - leonidas - 05-05-2020

Hello,
I've just purchased Ugreen 50771 6-in-1 HDMI. I have pinebook pro with Debian, I'm trying to choose Displays from the Control Center, but it doesn't detect the monitor.
However, it works as the usb-hub. Should I install some driver or so?

I checked it with my smartphone and it detects the monitor immediately with Ugreen connected.

RE: USB-C dock - Arwen - 05-05-2020

@leonidas, here are some things to try;

- Flip the USB cable around, some people found their USB C alt mode Display port devices only work one way.
- Try another distro of Linux known to work on the Pinebook Pro, like Manjaro which is shown to work with that device
